Press Command and spacebar to pull up Spotlight then start typing Terminal. When the Terminal app appears in Spotlight, tap Return to launch it. Alternatively, navigate to the Utilities folder in Applications and double-click Terminal. When Terminal has launched, type 'top' into the Terminal window. However, the app lets you customize the layout of the app. When the app is open, navigate to ViewLayout and select Free from the subsequent menu. After that, you can click on the x-shaped icon.
