The Northshore School District phone system (was ShoreTel but now is MiTel) has a Connect application for Windows and Macintosh that provides remote use of your district phone, including managing voicemails, changing phone settings and modes, and even making calls through your district phone from your computer. The app has been installed on many staff Windows computers and on some staff Macintosh computers. For Macintosh users, the app is also available in Self Service for installation. Windows users needing the Connect app installed, please open a work order in the Technology Work Order system to request that installation.

Configuring Mitel Connect

Open the MiTel Connect app. Entering login information varies slightly for Windows and Mac users.

1. In the 'Email or username' field, enter your district username (not your district email address).
2. In the 'Password' field, enter your district password.
3. Click on the carat next to 'Show advanced' to expand the login screen options if needed.
4. Check the 'Use Windows Credentials' checkbox.
5. The Domain field will auto-fill.
6. In the 'Server' field, enter 'comm.nsd.org'.
7. Check the 'Remember me' checkbox to save your login information if desired.
8. Click on the 'Login' button.

Mac Users:

1. In the 'Email or username' field, enter your district user name. If your username does not work, type in your full email address.
2. In the 'Password' field, enter your district password.
3. Click on the carat next to 'Show advanced' to expand the login screen if needed.
4. Uncheck the 'User Windows Credentials' checkbox.
5. Leave the 'Domain' field blank.
6. In the 'Server' field, enter 'comm.nsd.org'.
7. Check the 'Remember me' checkbox to save your login information if desired.
8. Click on the 'Login' button.

The District phone system now has a feature to enable many staff to make calls from their computer or mobile device through their District phone number so the recipients see only the District phone number. For computers, the Connect software is available for Windows and Macintosh but not for Chromebooks or other ChromeOS devices. For mobile devices, the Connect app is available for iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android. Using Connect on a computer is very different from using it on a mobile device, though, so please check the links below for the correct instructions for your device.

Not all staff can be set up with this service so we are prioritizing staff based on their role and the interaction it requires with families and/or the public. The process of setting up a phone for this service is also time-consuming and has to be done one account at a time, so we are working through them as quickly as we can but have not yet been able to complete everyone.
